Coventry City have hijacked Hull City’s move to sign West Brom striker Brandon Thomas-Asante, sources have told Football Insider.
Thomas-Asante, 25, will now travel to Coventry to undergo a medical on Wednesday and finalise the move at their training ground.
He has been granted permission by West Brom to complete the transfer after the shock turnaround.
The forward looked to be heading for Yorkshire after an agreement was reached between all parties, but Coventry have made a last-minute swoop for his signature.
Football Insider revealed on Tuesday (30 July) that Hull had seen a £3million bid accepted by West Brom after the Ghana international became a top target.
However, Mark Robins’ side have moved quickly to reach an agreement with Albion and are now expected to complete his signing today.

Thomas-Asante joined West Brom from Salford in 2022 and has since secured his position as the first-choice striker at The Hawthorns.
His 12 goals in 43 appearances saw him finish as the club’s highest scorer last time out as they narrowly missed out on promotion via the playoffs, losing to eventual winners Southampton.
Coventry saw both Callum O’Hare and Matt Godden leave the club earlier this summer, and have targeted new forwards to replace the attacking talent they have lost.
When the opportunity to swoop for Thomas-Asante became available, they moved quickly to prevent him from moving to a potential playoff rival.
A move to Coventry would suit the striker, who is already based in the Midlands, and the Sky Blues have now won the race for his signature.
Hull, meanwhile, have been desperate to improve their attacking options after losing both Jaden Philogene and Liam Delap, who had been key last season.
Thomas-Asante was seen as the answer to their issues, but after Coventry swooped, they are now set to miss out on a primary target.
In other news, Leeds have made a move to sign a League One star.
