Tottenham Hotspur have had an up-and-down season so far and, while they look promising, there’s still work to be done.
Meanwhile, Manchester United are at the start of a new era in wake of Ruben Amorim taking the reins on a permanent basis after Erik ten Hag’s sacking.
With the January transfer window now coming up, both Spurs and the Red Devils have the opportunity to bring in some reinforcements.
Now, a midfield “magician” wanted by Tottenham and Man United has given all of his suitors a boost by confirming to his club that he’s definitely planning to leave.
Tottenham and Manchester United target Angel Gomes tells Lille he’s leaving
The player in question is Angel Gomes, who has made a real name for himself at Lille and has broken into the England setup.
TBR Football has learned that the 24-year-old has confirmed to Lille in the last few weeks that he will be leaving in 2025.
Sources have also told us that Lille don’t believe Gomes – whose contract expires next summer – will leave in the January transfer window.
TBR Football has already revealed that the likes of Manchester United, Aston Villa and Tottenham have all been watching Gomes closely.
Gomes came through the ranks at Old Trafford but made the move to Lille back in 2020.
Meanwhile, the likes of Manchester City, Bayern Munich, RB Leipzig and Inter Milan are also ready to join the chase for the four-cap England international.
What has been said about Angel Gomes?
Gomes is set to be a player in high demand in 2025 following his upward trajectory since joining Lille.
French football expert Julien Laurens recently said to BBC Sport: “He’s one of the best players in Ligue 1, there’s no doubt.
“The fans love him; a player that you enjoy watching because he’s just so elegant, so creative, such a great touch.
“If you know your football, you know that teams need players like Angel Gomes that make everything click and make everything happen.”
Meanwhile, former England Under-17 teammate Jonathan Panzo said: “Angel was always spoken about highly because he’s quality as a player.
“You hear about someone, then you get to see it and you are like ‘they weren’t lying about this player’.
“He is definitely one of the best players I have played with… he’s like a magician.
“He’s a small player, but his IQ is so smart and he just knows how to get around the pitch.”
