Exclusive: Tottenham's stance towards Archie Gray amid increasing speculation over his future

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Archie Gray has had a bright start to life at N17, showing he has what it takes to shine at the highest level.

Spurs signed Gray from Leeds United over the summer, reportedly paying £30million for his services.

The 18-year-old has made 11 appearances for Tottenham to date, clocking up 581 minutes for Ange Postecoglou’s side.

However, speculation has started doing the rounds with regards to Gray’s game time going forward and whether he could go out on loan in January.

Tottenham have now outlined their stance on the England youth international’s future going into the next transfer window.

Tottenham not planning to send Archie Gray out on loan

TBR Football understands that Gray and Tottenham have not talked about possible plans for him to leave in January.

We are told that Ange Postecoglou sees Gray as an important part of the squad, who is learning every day from training with the current squad.

Likewise, Gray has shown no desire to push for a move away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

We understand that, should Gray have looked to leave, then former club Leeds would have been happy to take him back to Elland Road until the end of the season.

However, there is no prospect of him leaving as it stands.

Ange Postecoglou a big fan of Gray

A few weeks ago, GiveMeSport reported that Tottenham were bracing themselves for Gray to be the subject of loan offers.

The report suggested that Spurs were yet to make a decision on the teenager’s short-term future, but it looks as though they’ve made their mind up.

Postecoglou has consistently praised Gray, suggesting he’s not planning to let him go anywhere else this season.

“You saw guys like Radu [Dragusin], Archie [Gray] and Rodrigo [Bentancur] come in tonight and they did a fantastic job for the team,” Postecoglou said after the Carabao Cup win over Manchester City.

Postecoglou also said of Gray and other Spurs youngsters in September: “The three we’ve brought in, with Mikey [Moore] and young Will Lankshear as well, Wilson, Archie, Lucas, I just love watching them in training at the moment.

“They want to play, they want to make an impact. They don’t look or behave like 18, 19-year-olds. Which is great for me.

“When they’re 21, they’re hopefully going to be flying and it’s part of our responsibility to develop them.”
