Fabrizio Romano has just shared fresh Conor Gallagher update amid interest from Tottenham and Atletico Madrid

Conor Gallagher’s future remains very much in the balance as Chelsea look to find a solution for a scenario quickly spiralling out of control.

Gallagher was the subject of interest from Tottenham all last summer and in January but remained at Chelsea to finish the campaign as captain.

There was an expectancy that Gallagher would then sign a new contract at the club this summer.

However, with Enzo Maresca apparently telling Gallagher he’s not training with the first-team until his future is resolved, there’s a tricky situation to manage now.

Further, Atletico Madrid are also pushing to sign Gallagher and want an answer from all involved by the end of the weekend.

Taking to X to provide the update, Romano has said that a new round of talks are now going to happen between Chelsea and Gallagher’s reps.

The Blues are apparently keen to avoid losing Gallagher on a free and are keen to come to a resolution one way or another.

Gallagher should leave Chelsea out of principle

If he has really been told to train with the kids and effectively being held to ransom, then Conor Gallagher should either walk away now or just run his contract down and leave for nothing.

Chelsea doing this to a homegrown player who was captain last year just stinks really.

In terms of PR for the club, it’s an utter disaster and whatever happens now, Todd Boehly and co have tarnished themselves.

Gallagher has no shortage of admirers and Ange Postecoglou would love him at Tottenham.

With just weeks in the window remaining, it will be interesting to see just what path Gallagher takes.
