Finance Expert: Rangers under pressure to sell players after what Clement did

Dan Plumley has insisted that the need for Rangers to sell players has always been there due to the nature of Scottish football.

Philippe Clement has recently admitted that all of his players have a price and could be sold if suitable offers come in, as he looks to rebuild at Ibrox.

The football finance expert admitted that there is pressure to sell in Govan, with broadcasting and commercial revenue not the best in the Scottish Premiership for all clubs.

“I think it’s always been there,” he exclusively told Ibrox News.

“This is a public statement around that to hammer it home, but it’s no disrespect to Rangers, it’s the situation we’ve spoken about in Scottish football for a long time.

“They are dependent on European football to boost revenue, there is only so many ways they can do it, the league itself and the backdrop with broadcasting and commercial revenue at league level, and it’s just the nature of the league that they are in.

“Every player, if a club comes in for them, will have their price, unfortunately and that can mean a fair few years were that squad has to go through quick transitions, but there is nothing else Rangers can do to counter that.

“As with any club in the market at the minute, if the price is right, there is some pressure to sell and in the current climate, there is pressure to sell to buy. I think that is just a realistic statement from Clement at Rangers, just spelling it out and saying that is how it is.”

There has been a pattern with transfers already this summer, with Liam Kelly, Connor Barron and Clinton Nsiala all arriving for little to no cost.

New links to free agent striker Tyrese Campbell [Daily Mail] also reinforce the point that any serious spending will need to be countered by a sale at Ibrox.

This is certainly something to watch in the coming weeks ahead of the new season.
