Philippe Clement left reporters in Greece unhappy when he arrived late for his scheduled pre-match press conference before Rangers took on Olympiacos, according to the Daily Mail.
The Light Blues drew 1-1 against the Greek outfit in the Europa League on 7 November, with Cyriel Dessers equalising for the Bears in the second half.
The newspaper reported [13 November] that the foreign press contingent wasn’t too pleased that the Belgian ended up taking the first question over an hour after he was due to sit down initially.
Clement couldn’t make it in for the scheduled time because it took the team longer to clear passport control than expected before getting stuck in traffic.
Philippe Clement lucky to still be at Rangers
Clement could consider himself lucky that he was even allowed to take charge of the Olympiacos game, let alone still be in charge of the team.
The Light Blues have struggled since the start of the season, and apart from the below-par results, the performances haven’t been any better.
Rangers lost 1-0 to Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premiership on 20 October, and some supporters wanted to see the back of the Belgian head coach after the defeat.
On 30 October, the Bears once again lost in the league, this time to Aberdeen, who are level on points with leaders Celtic.
It’s been surprising to see the hierarchy at the Light Blues not take action against Clement yet, and it’s been suggested in the Daily Record [13 November] that the board wouldn’t want to make a decision until a new chairman has been appointed.
Clement’s departure appears inevitable because most fans have turned on him at this point, and it remains to be seen how long the 50-year-old will manage to stay in his hot seat in the Ibrox dugout.
In other Rangers news, Derek McInnes will not accept the managerial role if Philippe Clement is sacked at Ibrox.
