Four Lads shared a picture from Oscar Cortes’ Instagram story that suggests he is back training on the grass after an injury absence, though eagle-eyed fans pointed out on caveat.
Cortes posted on his Instagram story [22 August] an image of himself out on the grass, seemingly training, which was soon reposted on X by Four Lads.
However, supporters noticed that the young Colombian is sporting last season’s Gers training kit, and is wearing gloves and a snood, casting doubt over the recency of the image.
Dr Rajpal Brar suggested [19 August] Cortes could return in early September as he recuperates from his knee injury.
Rangers return sooner for Oscar Cortes?
It could be having gathered the evidence on the social media post that Cortes is merely posting an older picture on his socials to signify he is missing the pitch and is working hard to recover.
Rangers were not expecting the youngster to be back in full training until after the end of August, which means the next time he could feature for the club may even be back at Ibrox.
It’s a frustrating time for Cortes and his club as the last thing he would have been considering when he turned out against Hearts on the opening weekend was to be back on the treatment table, following his difficulties last season.
Vaclav Cerny and the exit-linked Rabbi Matondo are alternative wing options for Philippe Clement at present, alongside his preference to use Jefte higher up the pitch – although Ridvan Yilmaz’s injury may put paid to that and see the summer arrival pulled in at left-back.
Cortes is an exciting player, an impact player, and that is exactly what the Light Blues need more of at this time.
In other Rangers news, Ianis Hagi could finally be departing the club on a permanent deal.
