Friedkins may turn to Euro cup-winning boss at Everton, he's wants right job - report

David Moyes is open to a return to management as the Friedkins consider appointing him as the next Everton boss, according to Alan Nixon.

The journalist shared via his Patreon account [8 December] that Moyes – who has already rejected one Premier League job [Graeme Bailey, 3 December] – is “happy” to bide his time for the right opening.

And Nixon adds that Everton may well turn to the Scotsman once their takeover is completed, which is widely expected to be in the coming weeks.

Moyes has been out of work since the end of last season when leaving West Ham United, with whom he won the UEFA Europa Conference League in 2022-23.

The Scotsman has a legendary previous spell in charge at Goodison Park and there is something heart-warming about him leading the club out at their new home from August.

Moyes is more than just a safe pair of hands. He arguably overachieved in the vast majority of his time with West Ham, where he more than restored his reputation.

Many Everton fans will feel underwhelming should the Friedkins indeed move for the 61-year-old, and that can also be understood.

You should never return to an ex, as the saying goes, but there are only a few other candidates who would do a better job on Merseyside.

Ultimately, Sean Dyche is still the man in charge and that will not change until the Friedkins are in charge. Until then, this is all hearsay.
