'From Man City’s side': Journalist now shares how City are feeling as Man United approach Ruben Amorim
????
Manchester United are in talks with Ruben Amorim as INEOS attempt to replace Erik ten Hag.
The Dutchman was dismissed on Monday after a 2-1 defeat against West Ham on Sunday, which left the Red Devils 14th in the Premier League.

TBR Football understand Manchester United have approached Amorim – although the Sporting CP boss could cost as much as €20m (£16.7m) to hire in terms of compensation.
It comes after Amorim was mentioned as a possible replacement for Pep Guardiola at Manchester City – after the Citizens pinched Hugo Viana from Sporting CP to take over from Txiki Begiristain as Sporting Director next summer.
Now – thanks to Rob Dawson of ESPN – we have been given some insight regarding how Manchester City feel about Manchester United approaching Ruben Amorim.
Manchester City are relaxed amid Manchester United talks with Ruben Amorim
Dawson has now taken to X (previously known as Twitter) to reveal that Manchester City hold no concerns whatsoever about the 39-year-old potentially moving to Old Trafford.
The ESPN journalist wrote: “Understand there’s no concern from Man City’s side that United are in talks with Sporting for Amorim. Not considered a top candidate to take over from Guardiola (when he leaves) primarily because his system doesn’t fit with the way City play. Clear run for United on that front.”
Manchester City were by no means expected to hire the man from Lisbon immediately, as Guardiola could even decide to stay at the Etihad Stadium beyond his contract expiring in July.
However, some presumed the Citizens may have sought to line up a pre-agreement with Amorim in the event that the Spaniard does walk away next summer, especially as his current Sporting Director Viana will be at the Etihad Stadium.
Nevertheless – judging by Dawson’s revelation – Manchester City had no desire to appoint the man from Lisbon in the first place, so it would not be a case of Manchester United pipping their bitter rivals to his signature by any means, should an agreement be found.
Replacing Erik ten Hag with Ruben Amorim would be a statement from INEOS
Many Manchester United fans felt underwhelmed as INEOS considered Gareth Southgate for the job, but hiring Amorim would send out a completely different message, one which oozes ambition.
After all, Liverpool strongly considered Amorim before opting for Arne Slot, which bodes well for the Red Devils given how measured, and often successful, those at Anfield are when it comes to making major calls.
Additionally, spending over £15m to hire the Portuguese tactician would also prove that INEOS mean business in their hunt for success at Old Trafford, as they seek to bring the glory days back.
