Gary Neville has hit out at Mohamed Salah for a “clear dive” during the Premier League clash between Liverpool and Chelsea at Anfield.

Arne Slot’s side picked up an impressive victory at home to go top of the league thanks to goals from Mohamed Salah and Curtis Jones, while Nicolas Jackson scored for the visitors.

However, prior to Salah’s opening goal, the 32-year-old went to ground under the challenge of Levi Colwill, but his shouts were waved away.

Referee John Brooks then booked Slot for his protests against the decision, with replays showing contact between the pair was initiated by the winger.

Neville, meanwhile, was left raging at the Liverpool star for his attempts to win the penalty and called for him to be shown a yellow card.

Speaking live on Sky Sports Main Event (20 October), the former Man United man fumed after re-analysing footage of the controversy: “Just watch Salah, what he tries to do is initiate the contact.

“It’s unnatural and he throws himself to the ground. He should be booked, why hasn’t he been booked? It’s a clear dive.”

Minutes after the incident, the Reds were awarded a penalty for another foul on Salah by Colwill, which the winger converted before going on to secure all three points.

Slot’s side have now won seven of their first eight Premier League games of the season, with Salah having scored five goals and provided five assists in that period.

However, Neville’s claims of diving throughout the game, despite little evidence to support his claims, only serve to tarnish the Egyptian’s reputation.

Later in the game, he aimed similar accusations at Darwin Nunez after he went down following a push from Chelsea’s Benoit Badiashile, stating the referee “should’ve booked him”.

Neville’s accusations and claims live on commentary have led to Liverpool supporters calling for his sack due to an apparent “bias” against the club due to his Man United history.

In other news, Chelsea fans exploded after a “corrupt” decision at Anfield.
