'Get him out' - Tottenham expert wants Ange to sell 'Complete Disaster' as transfer news emerges

John Wenham has urged Tottenham to sell midfielder Giovani Lo Celso amid a transfer update from Spain.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose has described the 28-year-old’s time in North London as a “complete disaster.”

As reported by Fichajes (10 June), Atletico Madrid and Real Betis are both competing to sign Lo Celso.

Betis are keen to bring Lo Celso back to the club and have already established contact with the Argentinian.

The La Liga side first need to free up space in their squad with Nabil Fekir likely to leave the club.

And Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes Lo Celso would do well if he were to return to Spain.

“Lo Celso has been a complete disaster for Tottenham,” Wenham said.

“I’m not interested in what he can do for Argentina, I only care about what he does in a Tottenham shirt.

“It does seem like Real Betis are interested in him. They look likely to lose Fekir and they probably see Lo Celso as a direct replacement.

“I’m sure he would excel there, I just don’t think the Premier League is suited for him.

“Therefore, the best possible thing would be to get him out of the club.

“Once he leaves, his time will be viewed in the same way as Tanguy Ndombele’s time at the club – a complete disaster.”

Lo Celso is not an essential part of Ange Postecoglou’s squad. As a result, with just one year remaining on his deal in North London, now is the time for the midfielder to be sold.

It is very unlikely the player’s contract will be extended.

Therefore, if Lo Celso isn’t sold this summer then the club run the real risk of losing him for free.

That would be a complete disaster considering the amount of money that has been invested into the player.

Luckily for Tottenham, there are clubs interested in his signature.

Levy must therefore ensure he capitalises on that interest.
