Glenn Hoddle delivers verdict on Chelsea's win tonight, shares what they 'won't be happy with'

Chelsea have made it two wins out of two in the Conference League as they ran out 4-1 winners over Panathinaikos on Thursday night.

Enzo Maresca’s Blues were in fine form at the Athens Olympic Stadium as Joao Felix scored a brace, with Mykhailo Mudryk and Christopher Nkunku also netting.

Felix opened the scoring for Chelsea in the 22nd minute when glanced a header on to Mykhailo Mudryk, collected the return ball, and poked home.

Mudryk got on the scoresheet in the 48th minute, heading in Pedro Neto’s delivery from the right, before Felix made it 3-0 on 55 minutes with a deflected effort.

Just four minutes later, Daniel Mancini was adjudged to have handled in the box and Christopher Nkunku converted from the subsequent penalty.

Panathinaikos pulled one back in the 69th minute when Facundo Pellistri tapped in a cross from Georgios Vagiannidis, but it proved nothing more than a consolation.

Former Chelsea player and manager Glenn Hoddle gave his verdict on the Blues’ display on the night, including the one negative point for them.

Glenn Hoddle hails ‘perfect night’ for Chelsea except for goal conceded

Hoddle, speaking on TNT Sports, felt it was a “perfect night” for Chelsea, who managed the start of the game well and went up the gears in the second half.

However, he did feel that the Blues will not be happy with the goal they conceded.

“It was spot on really,” Hoddle told TNT Sports, as transcribed by BBC Sport. “The goal against they won’t be happy with.

“They made sure there were no mistakes at the beginning, give your opponents no little chance at all, and then grow into the game.

“Second half, they went into another few gears. They could bring some subs on, younger players, give them a little bit of a chance as well.

“It was a perfect night for Chelsea, a good win.”

The Blues moved to the top of the league phase table as a result, and they have now scored four goals or more in five games in all competitions so far this season.

What next for Chelsea?

Chelsea are next in action on Sunday when they host Newcastle United in a Premier League fixture scheduled to kick off at 2pm.
