'Go out and sign him' - King says Tottenham can get striker who's 'right on their doorstep'

Bryan King wants Tottenham to replace Richarlison with Brentford star Ivan Toney.

The ex-Spurs scout doesn’t understand why the 28-year-old hasn’t already been brought to the club.

It comes after a report from talkSPORT (24 July), claimed that sources close to Toney are hoping that Tottenham come forward with an offer with the striker prepared to run down his contract with Brentford.

And King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – has suggested that Toney should be signed to replace Richarlison.

“I’m surprised that Toney hasn’t already been signed, to be honest,” King said.

“If they can sell Richarlison then Toney needs to come into the club. It was clear all of last season what Spurs needed, a striker.

“They got rid of Harry Kane and replaced him with Richarlison, who I don’t think is good enough. Toney is a player who has scored goals in the Premier League and made appearances at the Euros.

“If they’re looking for a centre-forward, he is their man, he’s right on their doorstep, and he wants the move. Go out and sign him.”

Tottenham to replace Richarlison with Ivan Toney?

Toney would no doubt accept a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

And with a year left on his Brentford contract, it is unlikely to cost the North London side too much money to bring him to the club.

Richarlison proved last season that he cannot be relied upon consistently. Therefore, Ange Postecoglou will likely be keen to sign a new striker.

Toney could be the perfect number nine in North London. However, it remains to be seen whether or not Tottenham make a move.
