Goodison View: Man City must be scared after what Everton star did on Christmas Day

Iliman Ndiaye is on a mission to ensure Manchester City’s woes continue when Everton visit the Etihad Stadium on Boxing Day.

Christmas Day is here, which means players have a rare opportunity to spend time with their loved ones amid a congested schedule.

Whether Sean Dyche has placed dietary constraints on his squad with a trip to Manchester coming up on Thursday (26 December) is anyone’s guess, but it would not be a surprise if a few had more mince pies than they are permitted.

Not one man, though.

While most players are spending time with their families for Christmas, Ndiaye, who impressed Pat Nevin against Chelsea last weekend, is hard at work, making sure he is sharp for the clash at the Etihad.

Raph Darch, who specialises in optimising training for footballers, shared a clip of Ndiaye working hard on his Instagram stories on Wednesday (25 December) afternoon.

In the said video, the Senegal international can be seen training in what appears to be someone’s (possibly his) backyard as Darch gives him instructions in French.

The trainer is evidently impressed by the 24-year-old’s efforts as he can be heard saying “superb” and “excellent”.

Ndiaye is a practising Muslim and that explains why he is out training instead of celebrating Christmas.

However, the fact that he chose to put in the effort when he could have laid back on a day off for everyone is a testament to his attitude.

With Ndiaye determined to be at his best for the Boxing Day clash, Manchester City may soon see their hopes of bouncing back from their 2-1 loss against Aston Villa come crashing down.

Pep Guardiola’s side have lost each of their last three games across all competitions and the former Marseille man is keen to add to their woes.

It is worth noting that Everton faced Manchester City in their first game after Christmas last year, but lost 3-1 on that occasion.

They were not able to any of their following nine matches, with a victory only coming against Liverpool in April – almost four months after the loss against City.

Dyche’s side now have the perfect opportunity to get back at the reigning champions.

In other Everton news, the Friedkins are mooted to splurge money on transfers, having completed the takeover.
