As ever, Bukayo Saka has been at the heart of all of the action, and speaking on the Kelly and Wrighty Show, Ian Wright has reserved some special praise for the winger.
Wright says that Saka remains a seriously underrated player, claiming that he doesn’t get the credit he deserves for how consistently brilliant he is.
Paul Merson also believes Saka is underrated, making a similar claim a few months ago.
Bukayo Saka is underrated
Wright shared his verdict on Saka.
The pundit says that Saka’s brilliance can often go unnoticed given how much he is outperforming many of his peers, using Manchester City’s Savinho as an example.
“Up front, Saka, as I say, Savinho at Man City, if Saka went the games playing like that. It’s been 15 games with nothing for Savinho. If Saka goes 25 minutes for Arsenal it’s a massive story. He does not get the credit for what he does, he’s incredible for Arsenal,” Wright said.
Bukayo Saka stats this season
Wright says that Saka is underrated, and when you look at his stats, it’s easy to understand why.
Make no mistake about it, Saka is putting up numbers that are up there with the very best players in the world.
Bukayo Saka stats this season Games 11 Goals 4 Assists 8
Of course, Saka isn’t scoring hat-tricks every week, but the key word here is consistency.
Saka is contributing in almost every single game – there are only three league matches this season where he hasn’t scored or assisted.
Even in the games he doesn’t score or assist, Saka makes a huge impact – against Leicester his stats sheet was off the charts.

Some believe Saka is better than Mohamed Salah, and while that is a very big claim to make, it’s fair to say that Saka is one of the very best players in the world right now.
If Arsenal are to win a major trophy this year, Saka will undoubtedly play a massive part in that.
