Tottenham Hotspur Brennan Johnson attacker is playing arguably the best football of his career as he scored once again in Wales’ 2-2 draw against Iceland in the UEFA Nations League.
He broke the deadlock in the 11th minute and Harry Wilson doubled Wales’ advantage to give them a two-goal lead at the interval.
However, Logi Tomasson’s strike and an own goal from goalkeeper Danny Ward meant the two sides shared the spoils in what turned out to be an entertaining game of football.
Johnson continued his rich vein of form as he scored in his seventh straight game for club and country. However, he was withdrawn at half-time with a suspected injury.
And Craig Bellamy has provided an injury update on the 23-year-old as Tottenham fans continue to sweat over his fitness.
Craig Bellamy says Tottenham’s Brennan Johnson ‘took a kick’ vs Iceland
After his goal in the first half, Wales were cruising at the interval, but things began to go south for them in the second half as Johnson didn’t come out with the rest of the players.
Wes Bruns replaced him for the second half as Bellamy’s side threw away a two-goal lead as fears grew over Johnson’s fitness.

However, Bellamy said after the game that it was just a precaution as he decided to substitute the Tottenham man after he was kicked by an Iceland player in the first half.
“It was a precaution. He took a kick. He did feel something from impact so we’ll get him checked out,” said Bellamy after the game (quotes via BBC Sport).
Brennan Johnson has silenced his critics in some style
Johnson was praised by the Welsh media for his performance against Iceland, although he also came under a bit of criticism for picking up a yellow card that will rule him out of the game against Montenegro.
That aside, he has quickly silenced his critics after his lukewarm start to the season and is one of the most in-form players in world football at the moment.
Johnson deactivated his Instagram account after being subjected to loads of abuse after Tottenham’s defeat to Arsenal last month.
Since then, he has scored in every game for club and country and has shown why Tottenham decided to part with a hefty fee believed to be in the region of £47.5m.
He picked up a knock against Iceland and will not feature against Montenegro owing to his suspension, so it remains to be seen if he returns to Tottenham prematurely to work his way back up to full fitness.
