Kris Boyd has torn into former Rangers chairman Dave King in an explosive rant in the aftermath of the 2-1 loss against Aberdeen on Wednesday 30 October.
Jimmy Thelin all but ended any hopes of Scottish Premiership success this season for the Gers, as his Aberdeen side opened up a nine-point gap with Shayden Morris putting the final nail in the coffin at Pittodrie.
King has been vocal in his scathing criticism of the Gers board [Rangers Review] since John Bennett resigned as chairman due to medical reasons and Boyd expects the shareholder to push his agenda once again in the face of the gut-wrenching loss, writing for the Scottish Sun [31 October] but believes it is a case of too little too late.
Writing: “I feel sorry for John Gilligan, who has stepped up as acting chairman. He’s a true Rangers man and he’ll be hurting at this sorry situation.
“Just wait, Dave King will no doubt come out shortly and try again to drive his agenda to get back involved. But he’s another one whose time is up.”
Rangers are in desperate need of a new direction
Rangers are in a state of turmoil both on and off the pitch in Glasgow and the club will remain in disarray until a figurehead is appointed to implement a long-term plan to turn around the fortunes at Ibrox.
While Clement remains the centre of attention as his days at the Gers’ helm look to be numbered, the board in its current state, is in no position to enact such drastic change.
Furthermore, if the club is still without a chairman, how can they be trusted to appoint an appropriate successor for the Belgian should Rangers be left with no choice but to pull the trigger?
Clement will surely be told to pack his bags should the side crash out of the Scottish League Cup at the hands of Motherwell on Sunday [3 November]. The Light Blues remain the overwhelming favourites for the tie at Parkhead – however, the same was the case against Kilmarnock, and the supporters all know how well that match turned out.
It truly is doom and gloom at Ibrox with no clear path out of the circus that has ensued throughout the season, all hope of a title challenge this year has evaporated and we are only in November, for that, Clement has to pay the price eventually.
For now, the slim hope remains of salvaging the campaign by securing a Scottish League Cup final tie for the supporters to look forward to, and by all means, King will be eagerly watching on as he will surely break his silence on the loss to Aberdeen in the coming days.
