‘He’s available’: Manchester United could look at signing £25m Tottenham target now – journalist

Manchester United have already signed Leny Yoro this summer, but they need more defensive reinforcements through the door.

Indeed, after losing Raphael Varane, United are short at the back, while Harry Maguire has also been linked with a move away, so the Red Devils do need another defender through the door.

Jarrad Branthwaite has been linked with a move to United in recent times, but according to Ben Jacobs, speaking on The Debrief, Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah is someone the Red Devils could have a look at.

Interestingly, Chalobah was left out of Chelsea’s pre-season tour squad earlier this week, while Tottenham have also been credited with an interest in the defender.

Manchester United could look at Trevoh Chalobah

Jacobs shared what he knows about the Chelsea defender and United’s interest.

“A player like Trevoh Chalobah could come into Manchester United’s thinking, they haven’t made an approach yet, but we know he’s available at Chelsea for as little as £25m. I think because of Manchester United’s budget they could sign a player who can play centre-back and full-back,” Jacobs said.

Chalobah could be a fantastic signing for Manchester United

Trevoh Chalobah could be a really good signing for United.

At £25m, he’s not a bank-breaker, and he would be able to cover a number of problem areas.

As Jacobs says, Chalobah can play at either right-back or centre-back, while he’s also able to do a job in the midfield.

Chalobah’s ability to play in midfield is particularly interesting.

Casemiro slowed down massively last season, and with Scott McTominay being linked with a move to Fulham, it’s fair to say that United do need more depth in the middle of the park.

Chalobah wouldn’t be one of the first names on the teamsheet at United, but he would be a very useful addition to this squad as he has the ability to play in three positions that are arguably the three biggest problem areas at Old Trafford.
