‘He’s cold’: Folarin Balogun says Liverpool have a bench player who is absolutely unreal

Folarin Balogun has played against some brilliant players during his career.

During his time in Ligue 1, Balogun has faced the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Ousmane Dembele and even Lionel Messi.

However, Balogun has also played against some brilliant players at youth level too.

Indeed, at the age of just 22, Balogun was playing in England at the same time a new golden generation was coming through.

Balogun was lucky enough to call the likes of Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe teammates in Arsenal’s youth setup, while he also faced off against the likes of Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers at youth level.

Speaking to JD Football, Balogun was asked about the best players he faced as a young player, and he says that Curtis Jones was an incredible player at youth level.

Balogun spoke about the Liverpool midfielder.

“Was there anyone else around that time you played against?” Balogun was asked.

“Yeah there’s loads I mean, I played against Curtis Jones at Liverpool, yeah, he’s cold. But yeah, there’s a lot of people I think. We were all friends and we would see each other at tournaments and we would follow each other’s journeys,” Balogun said.

Curtis Jones needs to break through

Curtis Jones has the makings of a top player.

Indeed, Jones has been named has one of the hardest workers in Liverpool training, and, as Balogun says, he is a natural talent.

Unfortunately though, breaking into this Liverpool team is an almost impossible task, and he’s been on the bench for most of this season.

Jones is yet to start a Premier League game this term, and, sadly, given how well Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai are playing, it’s hard to see him breaking into the team.

Jones is a fantastic depth option for Liverpool, but a player of this ability eventually needs to be thinking about starting matches.
