'I Can See It Happening' - Keith Wyness drops Tottenham takeover verdict as new details drop

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has claimed he expects Tottenham to sell around “10-15%” of the club to bring in a minority investor.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – insisted the widely-reported valuation of £3.75billion is “not far away” from coming to fruition.

According to The Times (27 July), Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is in talks to sell a minority stake in a deal that could value the club at up to £3.75 billion.

Enic, an investment company fronted by Joe Lewis, currently owns 86.6 per cent of the club – who also have around 30,000 smaller shareholders.

The development of the club’s 62,850-capacity stadium has boosted the value and attractiveness of Tottenham since it opened in 2019.

Tottenham valuation of £3.75bn is ‘realistic’, says Wyness

Wyness claimed Enic and Spurs won’t consider a full takeover at this time.

He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “I think it is a realistic valuation, given the stadium.

“Daniel Levy has been known over the years as one of the best negotiators, always pushing for the highest valuations – whether that’s sponsorships or player sales.

“He’s a good operator and £3.75billion is not far away. I can see how that can happen.

“I’ve also read today that Newcastle are valued at £1billion, when it seems like yesterday they were bought from Mike Ashley for £300million.

“It’s interesting to watch. What they’re really after is a minority investor, not a full takeover for the full amount.

“They want someone to take around 10-15%.”
