Raheem Sterling is now an Arsenal player after a frantic end to the transfer window and it remains to be seen just how well he’ll do in a Gunners shirt.
Sterling’s late move on deadline day was one of the most eye-catching transfers of the summer and in the main, he should give Arsenal a new dimension and plenty of experience.
Still, Sterling’s signing has been quite the talking point in the media since Friday, with numerous pundits having their say on the matter.
Alan Shearer has suggested Sterling could be a really valuable player for Arsenal, while Paul Merson went further and branded Sterling an ‘amazing’ signing for the Gunners.
Of course, after another weekend of Premier League action, Sterling is still being discussed and Gary Lineker has become the latest to give his verdict.
Gary Lineker says what everyone is forgetting about Raheem Sterling
Speaking on the latest episode of the Rest Is Football podcast, Lineker offered up his take on Arsenal signing Sterling.
“He is still only 29.
“I know it seems like he has been around forever you think he’s a veteran well into his 30s, but he’s still only 29, so he will have a lot to offer, Raheem, and I think whether he will play consistently remains to be seen, but he has been a terrific player for well over a decade now,” Lineker commented.
Sterling in line for Arsenal debut v Tottenham
Raheem Sterling is no stranger to the big occasion following spells with Liverpool, City, and now Chelsea, as well as big England matches.
However, it doesn’t come much more intense than landing into your first game for Arsenal in a north London derby.
Sterling is in line to be part of the squad to take on Tottenham in a few weeks’ time and he’ll be hoping to make the fastest of starts in Arsenal red.
He is likely to be on the bench but with Leandro Trossard wanted in Saudi Arabia and Gabi Martinelli not at his best, Sterling will sense an opportunity.
