Dan Bardell believes Tottenham should avoid signing Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace this late in the transfer window.

The England international has been a long-term target for Ange Postecoglou’s side and links to the Palace star haven’t gone away throughout the summer.

It has to be said that the Eagles could be reluctant to sell now after losing Michael Olise and Joachim Andersen in this window.

Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell can’t see Spurs landing the 26-year-old with just days remaining in the window and remains unsure if he is needed.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Bardell said: “I think the later the window goes on, I think the more reluctant Palace would be to let him go.

At this point in the window, it would feel like a panic buy for Tottenham. They would probably be better investing the money to buy Eze in a central midfielder.

Spurs have an array of attacking players and would struggle to get him and Maddison into the same time.

Even though he is a quality player and I love him, I think they have too much in attack, too many bodies.

Tottenham warned off signing Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace

There is no doubt that the attacking midfielder could help take Tottenham to the next level if he reached his potential after moving to North London.

Eze is excellent on the ball, having the ability to make things happen while also having an eye for goal which is a huge plus.

With that being said, Postecoglou already has Maddison at his disposal and plenty of other attacking options to choose from already.

Spending a large fee on the former QPR starlet could prove to have a negative effect on his progress or the development of other stars at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Eze would be a top signing but with the current state of the Spurs squad, potentially an unnecessary one.
