‘I think’: Chris Sutton names the only team capable of catching Liverpool in the Premier League now

Liverpool are on course to win their 20^th English league title.

The Reds are nine points clear at the top of the Premier League, and there’s a temptation to call this title race a foregone conclusion at this point.

Indeed, with such a wide gap at the top of the table, it’s going to be very hard for any team to stop Liverpool, and speaking on the BBC Radio Five Live Football Daily Podcast, Chris Sutton has shared his verdict on this title race.

The pundit says that Arsenal are now the only team that can catch Liverpool, stating that he believes Chelsea don’t have the necessary experience to go all the way in the title race.

Chelsea have improved a lot this season, but Sutton believes the Blues don’t have enough to win the title.

Arsenal are the only team that can stop Liverpool

Sutton discussed the title race and how Liverpool can be stopped.

The pundit believes that Arsenal are the only team who can stop Liverpool right now.

Ian Wright has claimed Liverpool will win the league barring an injury crisis, but Sherwood believes Arsenal could still challenge the Reds.

“What can throw them off course Chris?

“Arsenal, maybe they’re a team that now Odegaard is back are capable of catching them. I think it is only Arsenal, I don’t know if Chelsea have the experience. They have Newcastle away this week, that’s a tricky game because Newcastle beat Arsenal very recently.”

What Tim Sherwood has said about the title race

Sutton says that Arsenal are the only team who can stop Liverpool, and that is a view that Tim Sherwood also agrees with.

Indeed, speaking on Generation xG, Sherwood also named Arsenal as the only team who can halt Liverpool’s title charge.

“It’s done and dusted in terms of City. It’s difficult to write them off, but you can’t see them going 15 games without losing,” Sherwood said.

“Anyone who finishes above Liverpool will win the Premier League, the only team who can possibly do that for me is Arsenal now Odegaard is back they lookn like they’re on form.”

Sherwood and Sutton believe Arsenal have what it takes to stop Liverpool, and based on their last three performances that may well be true.

Arsenal have been red hot in recent weeks, and Martin Odegaard has been key to Arsenal’s improvement, but, it has to be said that Sporting, West Ham and Nottingham Forest aren’t exactly the toughest opposition they will face between now and the end of the season.

Arsenal have an outside chance of winning the league, but that may be all they have, an outside chance, because, at the moment, Liverpool are firm favourites for the title.
