Craig Moore has told Philippe Clement that he wants to “see more” of Hamza Igamane ahead of Rangers clash with Dundee.
The Light Blues return to Ibrox for the first time this season for the Scottish League Cup clash on Saturday (21 September) as they look to book their place in the semi-finals of the competition.
Clement is expected to rotate his side following the Premiership win over Dundee United last time out and Go Radio pundit Moore has encouraged the Belgian to hand Igamane a first Gers start.
Speaking on The Go Radio Football Show (19 September, 1:13:25) he said: “He had a nice little cameo appearance at the weekend against Dundee United.
“I’d love to see him start. He has that ability where he’s slightly different you know. He’s definitely not come through academy football let me tell you that.
“There’s flair, wanting to take people on, wanting to drive forward, certain passes that maybe other players don’t see.
“On first sighting, I want to see more, absolutely.”
Philippe Clement told to make Cyriel Dessers call at Rangers?
Clement has been reluctant to drop Cyriel Dessers throughout his time at Ibrox, but Saturday afternoon’s clash with Dundee may be the perfect chance for the Belgian to experiment at the top end of the pitch.
As Moore suggests, Igamane has been bright in his cameo appearances following his arrival at Ibroxand while he is yet to start a game in Scotland, he has more than earned that right.
With the pressure slightly off the Gers in the League Cup, the first game back at Ibrox represents the perfect opportunity for Clement to hand the 21-year-old his first full taste of the Scottish game.
If things don’t go to plan for the young striker, Dessers will be waiting in the wings to replace him from the bench.
The Nigerian has had to lead the line pretty much on his own for the last year or so in Glasgow so he will benefit immensely if he is allowed the opportunity to watch the majority of the game from the sidelines.
It will be interesting to see whether or not the Belgian follows Moore’s advice or sticks to his guns to ensure that Rangers book their place in the next round.
