Ibrox View: 82% Rangers ace can become regular under Clement after 'Flashes of quality' v FCSB

Nico Raskin finally looks to be performing to his absolute best at Ibrox after arriving at Rangers back in January of 2023.

The midfielder only made 14 Scottish Premiership appearances last season, suffering injuries throughout the campaign, and being unable to stake his case to be a starter under the manager.

While he has only started two league matches for the Gers this season, Raskin has had multiple opportunities to impress in front of the Ibrox crowd and he’s taking each one as it comes.

Playing the full 90 minutes in the 4-0 Europa League win over FCSB on Thursday (24 October), the Daily Record awarded him an 8/10 rating, writing: “Given a rare start and grabbed his chance in the middle of the park. Played with aggression and intensity with flashes of quality as well.”

Mohamed Diomande and Connor Barron are clearly first choices under Clement but Raskin is certainly not a bad option at Ibrox, and he will now be pushing to be on the teamsheet each week.

While many will point fingers at the quality of opposition, the Light Blues could only beat what was in front of them and Raskin took his opportunity to stamp his mark on the squad.

With an 82 per cent pass completion, he made the most passes of anyone on the pitch (51), won the most tackles with a 57 per cent win-rate, made 13 recoveries and stung the palms of the goalkeeper with his shot [FotMob].

He also took the highest number of touches, taking complete control in the middle of the park, entering into the joint-most number of duels and completing 50 per cent of his dribbles.

This was an all-round performance from the Belgian, and with him, Barron and Diomande all on the pitch in the second half, it will be difficult to drop one of them ahead of the St Mirren clash on Sunday 27 October.
