Ibrox View: Philippe Clement likely to be fuming as 'Big News' emerges involving Rangers

Philippe Clement will be fuming to learn that he will not be able to count on the services of Tom Lawrence at Rangers until December.

The Belgian revealed on 6 November that the Wales international will be unavailable for the next four to six weeks due to an injury.

Heart and Hand’s David Edgar was also not pleased and labelled it as “big news”.

He wrote on X: “Big news from the Presser Tom Lawrence out 4-6 weeks.”

Clement appears to be fighting for his job at Ibrox and one bad result could seal his fate.

To avoid being sacked, the Belgian will want to count on all of his best players, but unfortunately, will not have the 30-year-old’s services to count on.

Lawrence has done well this season, not just domestically, but also in Europe so his absence is certainly a crushing blow.

In three Europa League games, he has found the back of the net twice and has been handed a start on all three occasions by Clement.

The 30-year-old also has three goals and two assists to his name in the SPFL this season – a stark improvement on the 2023/24 campaign where he managed just two goals and three assists in 23 matches.

It remains to be seen who comes in and takes over Lawrence’s responsibilities and contributes consistently in the final third.

In other Rangers, a “progressive” manager has been linked to take over from Philippe Clement after rejecting a job elsewhere.
