Kemar Roofe has reacted after Rabbi Matondo shared a new injury update ahead of Rangers’ clash with Olympiacos.
Philippe Clement’s side are looking to boost their hopes of qualification for the knockout stages of the Europa League when they face the Greek giants on Thursday (7 November).
The Gers boss has confirmed that Matondo is back in full training having recovered from an injury that has kept him out for the majority of the season and Roofe has been quick to send the Welshman a message on social media.
Taking to Instagram on Wednesday (6 November) Matondo posted a video of his highlights at Ibrox with the caption: “Been tough watching from the sidelines these last couple months but the determination & hunger to get back out there & help the lads in the best possible way I can is what I look forward to”
Commenting on the post, Roofe simply replied with two praising emojis.
What has happened to Rangers attacker Rabbi Matondo at Ibrox?
It feels as though Matondo has been out for ages already this season as so much has happened since the winger last took to the field at Ibrox.
The Wales international has never been the most consistent of performers but he is capable of producing the occasional moment of magic and that is exactly what the Gers need at this moment in time.
Clement’s side have been guilty of looking a little one-dimensional so far this season, particularly in attack where they lack any real pace or urgency. Hopefully, the return of Matondo could go a long way to solving that problem.
It will be interesting to see whether or not the winger is thrown straight back into the fold against Olympiacos. The temptation will be there for Clement, but he will want to avoid losing the winger to the treatment room immediately.
Hopefully, Matondo will get through Thursday evening’s game unscathed and then continue to build his fitness over the course of the international break.
