Cyriel Dessers scored a dramatic last-ditch equaliser to bring an important draw back to Hampden Park as Rangers attempt to qualify for the Champions League.
The two sides met on Tuesday 6 August as the Gers kicked off their European campaign for the 2024/25 season, and it looked as though the travelling fans were set for disappointment until the fourth minute of added time.
New signing Vaclav Cerny delivered a sensational cross into the middle for Dessers to tap home, scoring his first of the new season after notching 22 goals in his first year in Scotland.
The performance was certainly a much better one than the opening Scottish Premiership clash against Hearts, though there were still creases for Philippe Clement to iron out, with Scott Wright being one of those.
While the 26-year-old has been a rare shining light in the lead-up to the new season, his display against Dynamo Kyiv left a lot to be desired, being hooked at half-time and replaced by Jefte.
Social media was rife with criticism for the exit-linked winger at full-time, and Clement will need to make an important decision over the player’s decision before the transfer window closes later this month.
Scott Wright to leave Rangers before August 30?
Wright has been linked with an Ibrox exit throughout the window, with Championship trio Derby County, Sheffield Wednesday and Preston North End all looking at him as an option [Darren Whitcoop].
The winger is unlikely to be a player that Clement misses if he is to leave this summer, especially after his dismal showing against the Ukrainian side on Tuesday.
With only 12 goals in 119 appearances since arriving at Ibrox in 2021, there are multiple players now at the club who could impress on the flanks, and that decent transfer business recently could be what seals his exit.
He will certainly need to prove himself in the next couple of games if he is to stay in Scotland and fight for his position under Clement.
In other Rangers news, the Gers made an “almost criminal” Ianis Hagi decision at Ibrox.
