Ibrox View: Rangers can cash in on Igamane jackpot after takeover news elsewhere

Rangers can force Everton to pay top-dollar for Hamza Igamane in January after the Premier League club’s takeover was completed.

Igamane has been identified as a potential January transfer target for Everton as they look to reinforce their frontline [TBR Football, 17 December].

The 22-year-old Moroccan has been in red-hot form at Ibrox, scoring five goals in his last six games with a senior international call-up mooted, having only signed from FAR Rabat for £1.7million in the summer.

However, with Everton being taken over by US billionaire Dan Friedkin on 19 December, Clement will be hoping the Ibrox hierarchy can get every last penny out of them if they are to sanction Igamane’s exit.

Rangers can demand big money from Everton for Hamza Igamane

While buying players at low prices with a view to selling them for higher values is a key facet of the Light Blues’ new transfer policy, Igamane is under contract until 2029 and the club will be keen to keep him.

If Everton do come calling with a below-par bid, the higher-ups at Ibrox must push the newly-monied Premier League side towards paying exactly what they want if a sale is to be sanctioned next month.

For too long the Bears have allowed players to leave for well below their market values, or hold onto them to such extremes that those values drop – as was the case for five first-team exits this summer.

In Igamane however, Clement has a player who not only has become instrumental to his side’s recovery in form across recent matches, but also someone whose valuation is only heading one way.

Selling Igamane in January would be seen as both short-sighted and a sign that the player trading model is working correctly, but the club cannot afford to let a cash-rich Everton low-ball them into submission.

In other Rangers news, a key player’s injury has resulted in the Gers prioritising one position once the January window opens.
