Rangers must step up their efforts in the pursuit of Dario Osorio as Newcastle United are firming up their interest in the Midtjylland forward

The 20-year-old has been turning heads with his performances for the Danish outfit, with TBR Football [10 October] reporting that Aston Villa, Brighton, Crystal Palace, Brentford and Scottish Premiership rivals Celtic are all also keeping tabs on the player.

Philippe Clement’s side are expected to enter the transfer market in January, with the club off the pace in the Scottish Premiership and facing a torrid run of fixtures to qualify for the knockout stages of the Europa League.

Osorio is quickly establishing himself as one of the brightest young prospects out in Denmark and is considered a top talent, yet he could be available for a cut-price fee should the Gers choose to strike in the winter transfer window.

Rangers should go all out for Dario Osorio

While Rangers do not have the financial power to match the riches on offer in the English Premier League, Clement should not be scared off and should present a proposal to bring Osorio to Ibrox.

The Chile international has been ticking along out of the eye of the European elite in Denmark, continuing his fantastic return of eight goals and two assists in 23 Superliga appearances, with two goals and one assist in 10 outings thus far this term.

Clement has struggled to identify his strongest lineup this year in Glasgow. After a squad overhaul this summer, Vaclav Cerny, Ross McCausland and Nedim Bajrami have shared minutes on the flanks.

Cerny has endured a love-hate relationship with the Rangers faithful since his loan move from Wolfsburg, with reports suggesting the Czech forward has struggled to settle into Scotland with the likelihood he will not extend his stay at Ibrox beyond the current season.

The Gers need stability. The finances at the club have been well-documented but the club is taking a step in the right direction and could soon see a top-up in the coffers from the “biggest deal” in Scottish football.

Osorio has all the tools to become an instant success in Scotland and, with age on his side, the forward could develop into one of the best under Clement and be the statement signing needed to begin bridging the gap to Celtic.

He will not be awarded the playing time on offer at Ibrox and Clement must lean into that pitch. Rangers simply cannot afford to miss this opportunity with a number of others now seemingly closing in on his signature.
