Rangers supporters may already be focused on the Gers’ clash with Dundee United, but one or two of Philippe Clement’s stars remain on international duty.

The likes of Mohammed Diomande, Ross McCausland, Connor Barron and John Souttar have all spent the last couple of days away with their national sides over the last few days with varying degrees of success.

While a lot of those players will already be making their way back to Glasgow ahead of Sunday (15 September) afternoon’s trip to Tannadice, Vaclav Cerny has played a starring role for the Czech Republic.

The Wolfsburg loanee started his national side’s win over Ukraine on Tuesday (10 September) having not featured in their disappointing 4-1 thrashing at the hands of Georgia and it didn’t take long for him to make an impact.

In footage shared via X by RidvanLoyal (10 September), the Gers winger can be spotted cutting infield on his left foot before firing a shot towards goal that was directed into the back of the net by Pavel Sulc.

How has Rangers winger Vaclav Cerny done on international duty?

Although Cerny may well feel as though Sulc has robbed him of what could have been yet another international goal, the footage of the 26-year-old shows just how lethal he can be in the penalty area.

Every time he gets the ball, you know that he’s going to cut inside on his left foot from the right flank, but it seems as though there is no easy way for a defender to stop him from getting a cross in or taking a shot on goal.

He may only be a Rangers player for this season, as his loan switch doesn’t contain an option or obligation to buy [inFotblal.cz, 25 July], but he could well still have a major impact under Clement between now and the end of the season.

Hopefully, he will be able to carry his international form into Sunday afternoon’s clash with Dundee United at Tannadice as the Gers need to bounce back quickly from their Old Firm defeat to Celtic last time out.

His quality is there for everyone to see, he now just needs to find a way to demonstrate it week in and week out in a Light Blue shirt.

In other Rangers news, Clement has been told to make a Nedim Bajrami call after what he did in the international break
