Barcelona have decided that Wojciech Szczesny is their preferred goalkeeper to come in for the injured Marc-Andre ter Stegen, with the Polish shot-stopper willing to come out of retirement to sign for the Catalan giants. However they have yet to reach an agreement.
Szczesny is aware that he is the top choice, and is open to signing, but Sport note that there are various questions to be settled before an agreement is found. However if that agreement is reached, then Szczesny will arrive in Barcelona shortly.

One of the key issues on the table is part of his redundancy package with Juventus, which stated that he must return the money he earned from his exit before his retirement if he signed for another club during a stipulated period. This was first revealed by Bar Canaletes.

Barcelona will not guarantee Szczesny a starting role ahead of Inaki Pena, but he believes he would win the number one spot if given the chance. The Catalans want to tie up an agreement rapidly though, so that Szczesny could be available after the October international break and ready to play – if the talks drag out, they will look to one of their other options.
It seems likely Barcelona are looking to find a middle ground between compensating Szczesny the money he would lose out on, and handing him a salary. The Blaugrana have 80% of Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s salary to use on a replacement signing in the 30 days after his injury, which has been reported as around €7m. However it should be noted that Barcelona then have to add this extra cost to their salary limit calculations for next season.
