'I'm just not sold': ESPN pundit thinks Arsenal will not win the PL title if Arteta continues to use one player

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has just been sent a warning ahead of the start of the new Premier League season.

The Gunners are almost certainly going to be in the title race in the 2024/25 campaign.

The North Londoners finished second in each of the last two Premier League seasons – they even took the race to the final day of the 2023/24 campaign and fell just two points short.

Arsenal fans are hoping that their side can get over the line in the upcoming campaign, but ESPN’s Shaka Hislop believes it will not be possible if one player continues to start.

Arsenal warned they won’t win the Premier League because of Kai Havertz

Arsenal have shown over the last two seasons that they are good enough to go toe-to-toe with any club in the Premier League.

Arteta’s men were undefeated against Manchester City and Liverpool in the 2023/24 campaign, and it won’t be a surprise at all to see them replicate that again in the upcoming campaign.

To add to that, Arsenal are said to be close to signing Riccardo Calafiori, while Spain Euro 2024 champion Mikel Merino is reportedly Arteta’s new top target.

Those two signings will definitely make the Gunners stronger, but Hislop believes there is still one very obvious weakness in Arteta’s side.

The pundit has claimed that he is just not sold on Kai Havertz despite the German’s brilliant performances for Arsenal at the top end of the pitch.

Hislop also claimed that he doesn’t believe Jesus is good enough to win Arsenal the title either.

He said on ESPN FC: “It really does come down to Arsenal’s attacking options and while Havertz, at times, popped up at key moments and key games with goals, I’m just not sold on Havertz as the striker to lead a team to win the Premier League.

“I feel the same about Gabriel Jesus, who I thought started wonderfully well when he first joined Arsenal. but because of injuries, I think has waned and it’s shown a need there.

“So, there is still that department to be addressed.”

Two strikers Arsenal could sign before August’s transfer deadline

Arsenal are definitely in the market to strengthen their attack.

Arteta knows he doesn’t have a forward like Erling Haaland who will guarantee 20 or 25 goals a season. That is perhaps what separates the Gunners and Manchester City at the moment.

The North Londoners have been linked with several strikers as a result, and they could make a move for one of them in the coming weeks.

Reports have claimed that Arsenal are planning to bid for Viktor Gyokeres as soon as Eddie Nketiah completes his transfer to Marseille.

Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed that Arsenal could still make a move for Victor Osimhen this summer. The Nigerian is desperate to leave Napoli before the window shuts.

Both Gyokeres and Osimhen are great options for Arsenal. It remains to be seen if the Gunners will go after either one of them in the coming weeks.
