'I'm told...' - Alan Myers issues Dele Alli update ahead of Everton pre-season clash

Dele Alli will not be featuring for Everton in their pre-season friendly clash against Sligo Rovers, according to Alan Myers.

The Sky Sports news editor took to X on 18 July to claim that the out-of-contract player who’s still training with the Goodison Park outfit, will play no part in the game on 19 July.

The 28-year-old travelled with the team, according to Liverpool Echo’s Joe Thomas, but will not be featuring.

Via X, Myers wrote: “I’m told Dele won’t feature v Sligo Rovers tomorrow.”

Everton will be hoping for a quick Dele Alli return from injury

Alli’s return from injury will be a significant boost for the Toffees and his comeback can be compared to the impact of a new signing.

Before being cleared to play, the England international will need to complete a comprehensive rehabilitation program, including physical therapy to regain strength and mobility in the affected area.

He will also need to undergo medical evaluations to ensure he is fully recovered and ready to return to competitive football.

Once cleared, Alli will need to gradually increase his training intensity and participate in team practices to regain match fitness.

Whether or not he’s not been given the green signal by the medical staff remains to be seen but the fact that he’s being talked about as an option before games suggests he’s closing in.

Most Toffees fans would’ve thought they’ve seen the last of him so for him now closing in on a return would be a huge boost.

In other Everton news, the Toffees are now set to submit a bid to sign an international attacker and they’re confident of winning a 10-club race to seal the transfer.
