Liverpool had a quiet summer transfer window, but with January just around the corner, the Reds could spring into action.
Indeed, Liverpool have been linked with a number of players heading into the winter transfer window.
Martin Zubimendi remains a target for Liverpool, while Bryan Mbeumo is said to be on the Reds’ radar.
Speaking on The Rest is Football, Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer have been discussing Liverpool’s season so far, and Shearer says he’s worried about their defensive depth.
Lineker noted that he had recently seen links between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest’s Murillo, and Alan Shearer said that those links are very interesting.
Alan Shearer reacts as Liverpool are linked with Murillo
The two pundits discussed the idea of Murillo going to Anfield.
Shearer praised Murillo last week, and he says that a move to Anfield for the Brazilian could be interesting.
“The one tiny worry would be if one of the centre-halves were to get injured,” Shearer said.
“I understand they’re after Murillo, you know, from Nottingham Forest, well they’ve been linked with him anyway,” Lineker said.
“From Forest? Right, interesting. Those two at Forest have done really well this season, it’s one of the reasons Forest are flying high in the Premier League,” Shearer said.
What Murillo has said about Liverpool
Liverpool have been linked with Murillo in the past, and, interestingly, Murillo has commented on his links to the Reds.
Indeed, the defender has said that he wouldn’t discount a move to Anfield in the future.
“I had the dream of playing in the Premier League and I had that thought. I thought: ‘I’ll go to Nottingham Forest, have a good year and then I’ll go to a big club’. I had that in my head,” the 22-year-old said.
“I’d choose Manchester City but it would be more difficult for me to be a regular starter given the players they have in their squad,” Murillo said.
“There’s City, Arsenal as well, who are fighting for the Premier League title. I wouldn’t discard Liverpool either, it would be a good opportunity for me to show my football in a big club.”
Liverpool don’t have the best depth at centre-back at the moment, especially as Joel Matip wasn’t replaced in the summer, so perhaps this move could be on the cards.
Fabrizio Romano said Liverpool were working on a centre-back signing earlier this year, so this may be a situation to keep an eye on.
