Raheem Sterling’s links to Arsenal have been the big story of deadline day so far.
However, this deal isn’t going to be easy.
Indeed, it’s been reported that Sterling’s wages will be an issue in this deal.
It’s been reported that Sterling would have to take a massive pay-cut in order to join Arsenal.
That said, it is deadline day, and anything can happen.
Speaking on ESPN, Mark Ogden has shared a slightly different update on Sterling to Arsenal, and he says that he’s been told that Chelsea are willing to subsidise half of Sterling’s wages to get him off the books today.

Chelsea willing to pay to get rid of Raheem Sterling
Ogden shared what he knows about the winger.
“How do Chelsea get him out of of the club? I’ve been told that Chelsea are prepared to subsidise up to half of that contract to get him a move. Man United have been linked with Sterling, Arsenal have been offered Sterling, Juventus, teams in Saudi Arabia. He doesn’t want to go to Saudi Arabia, he wants to stay in the Premier League,” Ogden said.
Raheem Sterling move is possible
Arsenal could get this deal done.
Sterling’s wages were the big sticking point in this deal, but if Chelsea are willing to subsidise his wages, then Arsenal may just have a route to getting this signing over the line.
Of course, as Ogden says, Manchester United and Juventus are also keen.
Sterling’s family are apparently settled in London though, and that may give the Gunners the edge in this transfer battle as we head into the final hours of the window.
This has been one of the biggest stories of deadline day, and there’s still time for Arsenal to make a breakthrough on this deal and get this transfer over the line.
This is a very interesting situation as we had into the final stretch of this transfer window.
