'I've improved a lot': £30m Arsenal player believes he's got so much better since moving to the Emirates

One Arsenal player believes that he has improved considerably since arriving at the Emirates, and is growing into the role Mikel Arteta has handed him.

Edu and Mikel Arteta took a real gamble in the first couple of years in which they worked together, with Arsenal deciding to prioritise putting foundations in place rather than targeting immediate success – and that strategy is now reaping incredible rewards.

Arsenal have fought for the title in the last two years, and it would be absolutely no surprise to see them in the mix once again next season – while also setting their sights on going even further in the Champions League.

They have a squad which looks to have so much potential, with a number of players somehow not yet at their peak, with one of those who is still so young being captain Martin Odegaard.

Martin Odegaard believes he’s improved so much at Arsenal

Odegaard is still only 25 despite playing nearly 400 professional games in his club career. Of course, he has been captain for much of his time at Arsenal following his £30 million move.

He had a point to prove after struggling to make an impact at Real Madrid, but he has been one of the Premier League’s best over the last two years, with Odegaard himself telling Morning Footy how he believes he has taken his game to another level.

“Yeah I think I’ve improved a lot as a player, as a leader, as a person, I’ve been growing up even more and more and getting older, more experience and I feel like I’m growing more and more into the role, and I’m enjoying it, massive honour, and I’m really proud of this fantastic club. I really, really enjoy it and I think I’m taking the right steps as a leader, and just trying to get better,” he said.

The big question hanging over the Gunners captain

It will be interesting to see how Odegaard’s career plays out from here. Obviously, many 25-year-olds are only just coming into their peaks, but Odegaard is a name people have been talking about for a decade.

It is a scary thought that there could be more to come from the Norwegian, but he is clearly not someone who lacks belief, having decided to sign for Real Madrid, and then leave when things were not going to plan.
