Joe Gelhardt looks set to leave Leeds United on loan in January with Rangers among sides hoping to bring him in, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.
The 22-year-old was the subject of interest from as many as 10 clubs in the summer, including several second-tier teams, Rangers, and foreign clubs. Leeds initially considered a move to Celtic last January, but their loan restrictions, having already hit the limit for loans to clubs abroad, ultimately blocked that possibility
A loan move is now seen as the most likely outcome for Gelhardt, with the Whites unlikely to consider a permanent exit at this stage. Rangers, along with clubs like Portsmouth, Stoke City, Plymouth Argyle, Preston North End, and a couple of Belgian outfits, are all expected to return and pursue a loan deal in January.
Despite his limited involvement this season after appearing just twice in the Championship, Gelhardt is keen on securing more regular playing time, and interest in him remains strong.

The 22-year-old, with his Wayne Rooney-like build, dribbling ability, and fearlessness, has the potential to make an impact at the Gers. His physicality and style of play echo the qualities that made the ex-England captain a star in his early years, potentially making him a natural fit for a high-pressure environment like Ibrox.
The youngster showcased glimpses of his ability during a loan spell at Sunderland in the 2022/23 season, recording three goals and three assists in 20 games, further demonstrating his potential at a competitive level.
Gelhardt, still has time to develop but his progress has stalled badly at Elland Road in the past couple of years.
A move to the Light Blues could provide the ideal platform for his growth, even if Philippe Clement’s side are struggling this term.
Hamza Igamane’s breakout performance in the 4-1 win at Nice on 28 November hasn’t stopped the Belgian from being tipped to add a new goalscorer in the New Year, and a low-cost option for the Glasgow giants which gives Gelhardt the chance to finally play again could work out for all sides.
