Joe Thomas ponders Farhad Moshiri money question after Everton takeover collapse

Joe Thomas says it is currently unclear how much of a financial commitment to Everton Farhad Moshiri can or will be willing to make after the collapse of the Friedkin Group takeover.

The Liverpool ECHO reporter stated that the longer the takeover saga continues, the more serious issues will become for the Toffees.

Thomas also outlined that after spending as much money as he has running the Merseyside outfit, that he may not want to put any more money into it, especially if he’s trying to find a buyer.

Writing for the Echo (21 July), Thomas commented: “But the spectre of instability now looms large on the horizon. Everton relied on the money supplied by 777 Partners to get through to the end of last season.

“It is unclear to what extent Moshiri can, or wants to, pump more money into a club that he has already poured hundreds of millions of pounds into. So the longer the takeover situation continues without resolution, the more serious the issue will become.”

Everton takeover drama not set to slow transfer business down

Although the takeover drama has been the main story lingering over the heads of both Everton fans and the staff of the club, it hasn’t slowed their transfer business down.

Everton’s attack is the main area of the team that has been reinforced thus far with the addition of Iliman Ndiaye being the Toffees’ marquee signing of the window.

Jack Harrison has also been welcomed back to the club on a temporary basis after a fairly successful first season on loan last term from Leeds United.

Both of these moves were made while it looked clear that the Friedkin Group were set to take over the club.

The takeover hasn’t come to fruition and understandably this has raised questions for fans in regard to further arrivals.

Fans’ mind might be put at ease a little as Alan Myers reported on 17 July that the Toffees are looking for more than two new additions this summer.

Everton’s future is currently unclear but it does look as though the team will be suitably reinforced before the end of the window.

In other Everton news, Paul Joyce has shared an update on a rival Toffees bidder after Dan Friedkin walked away from his deal.
