Journalist now shares interesting update on Julen Lopetegui future at West Ham
????
Julen Lopetegui is under pressure at West Ham after Saturday’s disappointing 3-0 defeat against Chelsea.
The Hammers have lost their first three home games of a league campaign for the first time ever under the Spaniard’s guidance, and have only tasted victory once in five Premier League games so far this season.
Now, there has been an update on the future of Julen Lopetegui at West Ham…
Julen Lopetegui update emerges
Respected journalist Nicolo Schira has now claimed that the 58-year-old’s future could be decided by the upcoming clashes against Brentford and Ipswich.
He wrote on X (previously known as Twitter): “A very negative impact for Julen Lopetegui on West Ham’s bench. Hammers have lost their opening three home games of a league season for the first time in their history. The games against Brentford and Ipswich will be decisive for his future.”
Therefore, it is entirely possible that West Ham could actually sack the man from Asteasu after just seven Premier League games in charge – should he suffer defeat against the Bees and the Tractor Boys.
After the upcoming clashes against Brentford and Ipswich, West Ham face two tough challenges away to Tottenham and at home to Manchester United, so if a new face is holding the reins after the next two games, it will be a tough start – to say the least.
West Ham should give the Spaniard time
Of course, West Ham’s start to the 2024/25 campaign has been very underwhelming, although context is needed.
The Hammers were busier than most clubs during the summer transfer window, signing ten new players and offloading 12 – plenty of upheaval, to say the least.
Therefore, Lopetegui – who has taken a shine to fringe player Andy Irving – deserves more time to figure out his most effective XI, and also more time to let these new faces gel together on the training ground – it was always going to be a huge ask for everything to click overnight.
Hopefully, in an era where very few managers get much time, West Ham show some patience.
