'Plain stupidity': Chris Sutton slams £27m Arsenal player for what he did v Man City today

Arsenal came away from Manchester City with a 2-2 draw today but it could have been so much more had Leandro Trossard not seen a red card in the opening 45 minutes.

Trossard was sent off just before the half-time whistle as he charged into the back of a City player before kicking the ball away.

Arsenal were incensed at the decision after Jeremy Doku was not given the same treatment and it brought back memories of the Declan Rice incident a few weeks back.

Still, Trossard’s red will be a talking point for days to come, and while Arsenal will lament the seemingly lack of equal treatment, the Belgian can have few complaints really.

And over on social media, the outspoken Chris Sutton has not held back in his assessment of the incident, slamming Trossard for being stupid.

Chris Sutton laments Leandro Trossard’s ‘stupidity’ at Manchester City

Taking to X to voice his opinion on the matter with Trossard, Sutton didn’t hold back and showed no sympathy for Trossard.

Sutton is never one to hold back and this row will no doubt rumble on into the next few days.

For Arsenal, it means they’re once again missing a key player as they continue to try and become top dogs in the Premier League.

Trossard should have known better

At the end of the day, Mikel Arteta needs to get a grip of his Arsenal team and this apparent lack of discipline on display at times.

Time and again we see Arsenal in these situations and it can’t be a coincidence.

For Trossard, the kicking of the ball away was a bit soft but the foul itself should have been a yellow and he simply cannot give the referee a decision to make.

Arsenal and Arteta have got to get a grip of this sort of thing or ultimately, it will cost them their season.
