Thomas Frank raves about 'fantastic' Everton man ahead of Brentford showdown

Thomas Frank raved about the “fantastic” Sean Dyche as his Brentford side prepare to face Everton on Saturday.

The Toffees have had a below-par campaign this season with Dyche’s men currently sitting 16th in the Premier League, just three points adrift of the drop zone.

Speaking to the media before the clash (22 November) between the two sides on at Goodison Park (23 November), Frank defended Dyche and waxed lyrical about his skills as a manager..

“They are extremely solid,” he said. “I know they had a tough start where they lost their first four games; one defeat in their past seven says everything about them.

“Sean is a fantastic coach and manager. He always makes his team very difficult to play against. They are physical, intensive in pressing, they have pace on transitions, are very good on set-pieces, and they play behind you.

“What he brings is a fantastic foundation. I don’t think he always gets enough credit for how dynamic they are and how good they are in the offensive third.

“What he did at Burnley was extremely impressive and was something I looked into; that journey and how we could bring some of those elements to Brentford.

“He’s doing it again at Everton and it’s potentially even more impressive. On paper, you could maybe say the squad is better but it’s also a bigger challenge because there has been a lot of noise with points deductions and a change of owners.”

Everton have had a tough start to Premier League life this season

There’s no denying that fans expected Everton to find themselves in a better position than 16th in the table.

The Toffees’ start to the season was well below-par with many fans and pundits mooting the possibility of Dyche losing his job and Everton getting relegated to the Championship.

Indeed, things have been a lot better recently, with the club losing just one game in their last seven in the Premier League, albeit only two of those games have been wins.

While things are obviously on the up at Merseyside, it still feels like more could come from Dyche’s men.

Indeed, the many injuries they’ve suffered this term need to be taken into account when looking at their ‘ results, but, even when this is considered, with the talent they have among their ranks, they should at least be trying to break into the top half of the table.

Only time will tell what the future has in store for Dyche and Everton, but if things continue as they are, they will be staring down the barrel of another relegation battle.
