Keith Wyness: Everton to finish window 'very strongly' after takeover twist

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has insisted he expects Sean Dyche’s squad to look “very strong” at the end of the transfer window despite takeover concerns.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – claimed there is “no short-term cash issue at the club right now”.

Everton confirmed last week (19 July) that the Friedkin Group will not be progressing with a purchase of the club despite entering a period of exclusivity.

777 Partners also failed with a buyout earlier this year and the Merseyside outfit have revealed they are now “exploring alternative options” going forward.

Football Insider revealed on Wednesday (24 July) that Everton have agreed a deal to sign Napoli winger Jesper Lindstrom on a loan-to-buy deal.

Jack Harrison, Iliman Ndiaye and Tim Iroegbunam have already agreed moves to Goodison Park this summer.

Everton set for ‘very strong’ end to summer window, says Wyness

Wyness insisted he is “not concerned” about the rest of the summer transfer window.

He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “I’m more concerned than I was last week, that’s for sure.

“We’re going to carry on. There’s no short-term cash issue at the club right now.

“There’s the Premier League TV money coming in, there’s the cash from Friedkin – so I’m not concerned about the overall window.

“But we may not be making as much progress as we may have hoped.

“Nevertheless, I still expect Everton to have a very strong squad for the coming season.”
