Keith Wyness has 'big' concern as Wan-Bissaka-West Ham swap deal whispers intensify

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has claimed Noussair Mazraoui’s injury record may make him an unsuitable replacement for Aaron Wan-Bissaka at Man United.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – claimed rumours surrounding a potential swap deal for Wan-Bissaka are intensifying.

Man United have been widely linked with a swoop for Bayern Munich right-back Mazraoui as they vie to improve their defensive options for the 2024-25 campaign.

Erik ten Hag coached the Morocco international at Ajax and is reportedly keen to reunite with him at Old Trafford this summer.

He made 29 appearances for Bayern last term but missed several games with separate muscle injuries, which also plagued the defender in his first season in Germany.

Wyness reveals ‘big question mark’ over potential Man United signing

Wyness urged Man United to resolve the issue “very quickly” with the new season just weeks away.

He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “I’ve heard a lot of talk about swap deals involving Wan-Bissaka.

“These are key areas they’ve got to resolve very quickly because these days full-backs are crucial in squads for different formations and tactics.

“It’s strange to see them going after Mazraoui from Bayern, who are usually very good at holding on to the players they want.

“His injury record isn’t the best. Of course, United will do medicals but they don’t often give you the full story about the long-term resilience of a player.

“It’s always a concern when Bayern are willing to let a player leave.

“If Mazraoui’s fitness is good, then that’s a positive but there is a big question mark.”
