Bryan King doesn’t understand why Tottenham would be interested in bringing Leicester City midfielder Harry Winks back to the club.

The ex-Spurs scout thinks the 28-year-old would be better off remaining at the King Power Stadium.

As reported by Fichajes (17 November), Spurs are willing to pay £32million to bring Winks back to North London, having only sold him to Leicester City last summer for £10million.

However, King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – doesn’t think the Englishman is worth that type of transfer fee.

“This sounds like a strange bit of business to me,” King said.

“Why get rid of him and bring him back so soon? Perhaps Ange Postecoglou has been watching him and thinks that he could be a good addition to the squad. If that is the case, then Spurs would be interested.

“However, I can’t see how Winks is a game-changing signing. I would have thought at this moment in time he is better off at Leicester City where he will probably get more first-team football. Winks certainly isn’t worth £32million.”

Tottenham to bring Leicester City midfielder Harry Winks back to North London?

If Spurs were to pay £32million for a player they sold for £10million last summer, it would essentially represent a loss of £22milion for the club.

Therefore, it seems rather odd that Spurs would be in the market for Winks. The midfielder has done well since his move to Leicester City.

However, whether he has done well enough to justify Spurs spending £32million on him could be debated.

It is quite clear that Spurs are on the lookout for a brand-new midfielder, which in turn has left the futures of Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr up in the air.

However, whether Winks should be that new midfielder could also be debated.

In other Tottenham news, Harry Redknapp has shared his verdict on Postecoglou being sacked by the club.
