King predicts Dyche to be 'extremely frustrated' as Everton star is ruled out v Newcastle

Bryan King claims Sean Dyche will be “extremely frustrated” by Jarrad Branthwaite’s latest injury setback at Everton.

The ex-Goodison scout doesn’t think Dyche will be best pleased by how quickly the centre-back has picked up his latest injury.

Branthwaite made his first appearance of the season as Everton beat Crystal Palace 2-1 at Goodison Park on Saturday (28 September). However, according to the Mirror (4 October, page 65), Branthwaite will miss the visit of Newcastle United on Saturday (5 October).

And King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – believes Everton’s chances of winning have reduced.

“Dyche will be extremely frustrated,” King said.

“One minute you think the player is back and he is going to be your first choice centre-back. However, he then goes and picks up a brand-new injury which has ruled him out at the weekend.

“This isn’t a manager’s dream this situation, that is for sure. This does put the club’s chance of victory in doubt.”

Everton to be without Jarrad Branthwaite against Newcastle United

It can’t be understated just how important Branthwaite is at Goodison Park.

After five Premier League matches without him this season, the Toffees were without a win. On his first appearance of the 2024/25 campaign, Everton pick up their first victory.

That is clearly not a coincidence. Branthwaite is a key player at Everton, with his future constantly a topic of conversation on Merseyside.

Therefore, with the 22-year-old unavailable against Newcastle, it has to be said that the Toffees’ chances of victory have reduced dramatically.
