Kris Boyd shares what Rangers sources told him live on Sky about Butland blow today

Jack Butland has picked up a fresh injury after dropping out of the Rangers starting XI against Dundee on Saturday, Kris Boyd revealed.

The English stopper pulled out after the warm-up of the 1-0 win at Ibrox on 21 December, with sources at the club sharing the latest on his situation.

Philippe Clement watched Liam Kelly make his Rangers debut, with Vaclav Cerny scoring the winner early in the second half with Dundee putting late pressure on at Ibrox.

Speaking live on Sky Sports Soccer Saturday [21 December, 15:08], Boyd shared what he was told from people he knew in Glasgow.

“My sources at Ibrox informed me that just before kick-off that he was injured,” he said.

“Liam Kelly makes his debut for Rangers after 14 years in the academy.”

All eyes will be on Clement and his updates to the media after the full-time whistle, with everyone praying that nothing serious is revealed.

Given that Butland was initially named in the starting XI at Ibrox, hopefully, the senior star knows his body well enough to have said that he may need a rest with no need to put pressure on a problem.

Kelly came into the side and managed to keep a clean sheet on his debut for the club, something that dreams are made of in Govan.

Going into a busy Christmas period, the January transfer window and another Old Firm derby at Ibrox, it is going to be a mad couple of weeks in Glasgow.

Clement was likely hoping for a quiet afternoon following that Scottish League Cup final defeat and everything that came with it last time out.

Fingers crossed that this was just a precaution and Butland is fine after a well-earned rest.
