Likely destination emerges as Rangers in advanced talks for new midfielder signing - reports

Manchester United midfielder Hannibal Mejbri is likely to move to Spain or France despite interest from Rangers, according to Manchester World.

The news outlet reported on 19 August that the Tunisia international appears set to leave Old Trafford in the latter stages of the transfer window.

This comes after Gers were in advanced talks to sign the 21-year-old [Africa Foot, 25 July] who’s handed in a transfer request at the Manchester club. [Buzz News Tunisia]

Rangers must not give up on the transfer pursuit of Hannibal Mejbri

Gers could convince Mejbri to move to Ibrox by offering him a strategic role in their squad that aligns with his ambitions for regular first-team football, something he has struggled to secure at Manchester United.

They could highlight the platform the club provides for young talents to shine in European competitions, which could be attractive for his career progression and international standing with Tunisia.

Additionally, the Ibrox outfit might sweeten the deal with a loan initially, with an option to buy, reducing the financial risk for both parties while allowing the 21-year-old to prove himself in a competitive environment.

Moreover, showcasing the club’s vision under Philippe Clement, including potential for leadership roles in the midfield, might appeal to Mejbri’s aspirations for development and recognition.

However, if he is getting an offer from a side competing in the Champions League, there’s every chance he might pick them.

The window is still open and there’s plenty of time for twists and turns so it remains to be seen how things transpire.

In other Rangers news, the club are now mooted to secure the services of a £4.2m full-back in loan-to-buy deal and he’s set to leave in a few days.
