Everton could make a move for Tottenham striker Richarlison after the club was taken over by the Friedkin Group.
Richarlison’s future in North London remains up in the air, with frustration emerging after recent transfer reports in Brazil [via TNT Sports Brazil, 12 December].
The Toffees have been mooted to make a move to re-sign their former striker, who joined Tottenham from the Merseyside-based club, with a £40million offer having been mooted.
And after Everton announced recently via their official website on Thursday [19 December] that the Friedkin Group had completed their takeover of the club, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – has speculated that the US-based group could look to make an instant statement by re-signing Richarlison.
“Everton’s takeover is now complete,” Wenham said.
“Therefore, the first thing they could look to do is make a statement of intent by bringing Richarlison back to Goodison Park in January. As a result, that would then allow us to move on and sign someone who is able to make a contribution.
“This isn’t me being down on Richarlison as a player, because it would be great if he was available. However, he is just never able to contribute. Therefore, hopefully the Friedkin Group enquire about signing Richarlison in January because he is obviously a cult hero up there and they need reinforcements desperately.”
Everton to sign Tottenham striker Richarlison?
It looks as though Richarlison’s future might lie away from Tottenham. Therefore, if the North London club are to move him on, an offer from Everton would certainly help to do that.
The Brazilian was loved during his time on Merseyside. As a result, of all the clubs the 27-year-old could move to, Everton would likely be the club he would choose.
However, it remains to be seen whether an offer arrives, and if a fee can be agreed between the two sides.
In other Tottenham news, the club and one big-name player are apart on a new contract agreement.
