Liverpool Exclusive: Significant Marc Guehi update today

Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi is likely to prove too expensive for Liverpool this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

The Reds are searching for defensive reinforcements, and as revealed by Football Insider (22 July), are keen on a summer deal for 19-year-old Juventus centre-back Dean Huijsen.

But Huijsen is seen as one for the future and it is believed Liverpool are still keen to sign a first-choice left-sided defender.

Guehi is a long-term target at Anfield and has boosted his stature in the game with a string of excellent performances for England at the European Championships.

Sources say Crystal Palace are now demanding £70milllion to let the Three Lions star leave this summer after losing Michael Olise to Bayern Munich.

It is believed those demands will not be met by Liverpool.

Guehi made 25 starts in 29 appearances for Palace last term but missed 13 games with a knee issue between February and May.

Speaking at the end of the 2023-24 campaign on his future, Eagles boss Oliver Glasner said: “Nothing is 100 per cent but he’s under contract.”

“He is a good player, he’s our captain, so I’m very positive and confident that he plays for Crystal Palace.”

The defender’s contract at Selhurst Park runs until June 2026 after he joined from Chelsea in 2021.
